NRA First Steps Pistol Orientation 4 hours: A less rigorous course than the NRA Basic Pistol course teaches students the basic skills, knowledge and attitude to safely own and operate a handgun. NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting textbook. Students use their own firearms and ammunition approved by instructor. Students should expect to fire 50 rounds. Course outline on reverse side. NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting: Instructor Lead 8 hours: 6 hours classroom and 2 hours range. Blended 4 hours: 2 hours classroom and 2 hours range. To take the Blended course student must complete the online instructional portion at https://nra.yourlearningportal.com, print the certificate and get a PIN to use to register on the NRA site. Introductory course teaches students the basic skills, knowledge and attitude to safely own and operate a handgun. NRA Basics of Pistol Shooting textbook, .22 cal. semiautomatic, revolver and ammunition are included. Eye and hearing protection are available. Students may use their own firearms. Students should expect to fire 75-100 rounds. Course outline on reverse side.

Pistol Safety and Shooting Fundamentals 2 hours (Private or Seim-Private Lessons Only): 1 hour classroom and 1 hour range. Teaches the bare essentials for students to safely shoot a handgun on the range. Appropriate for a new shooter or for an experienced shooter to become familiar with their own firearm. Course outline on reverse side. NRA New Shooter Guide included. This class or an equivalent is a pre-requisite for private lessons.
Cost General Public $95.00, Blue Mountain Rod & Gun Club members $60.00
Private Instruction Per Hour: Individualized training customized to the student’s needs in either basic or defensive shooting levels. Students who have not previously completed a firearms training course must complete the Pistol Safety and Shooting Fundamentals class as their first private lesson to ensure a basic level of firearms safety understanding. Thereafter lesson will be taught on an hourly basis.
Cost General public $60.00 per hour, Blue Mountain Rod & Gun Club members $35.00 per hour.
